Norwich has a unique legacy of 31 surviving medieval churches. Many of them are no longer used for worship, and in 1973 the Norwich Historic Churches Trust was set up to care for eighteen of them.
The buildings held by the Trust are now in a variety of uses – as offices and commercial premises, as museums and arts centres, and as accommodation for a variety of charitable and non-profit organisations.
By joining the Friends of the NHCT, you can help to:
- conserve this special heritage
- ensure the buildings are put to good use
- ensure they are accessible to the public and researchers, both online and on the ground
- learn more about the churches.
We hold talks, an annual conference, church tours and social/fundraising events. We also send a regular newsletter to members.
