Books for Christmas – and for after Christmas

If you’re looking for a present for a friend or relative with an interest in old churches, do take a look at the two books published for the Norwich Historic Churches Trust.  The best-selling Of Churches, Toothache and Sheep has a collection of entertaining articles on topics related to medieval churches, with an emphasis on Norwich, including pieces on, surprise surprise, toothache and sheep.  Redundancy and Renewal looks at the history and the present state of attempts to find new use for historic church buildings.  It includes two essays about the Norwich Historic Churches Trust, and pieces on its Heavenly Gardens project, and what it’s like to be a church tenant.  Both books are heavily illustrated in colour.  You can learn more from the publisher’s website:

And when you’ve finished your Christmas reading, why not swap the books for new ones?  Our second book swap, following our first very successful event last year, will be at the Norwich Arts Centre, St Benedict Street, on 21 January 2017 from 10 to 12.30.  All are welcome, and refreshments will be available.
